About Linebreak

Linebreak is an online journal with a bias for good poetry. We look for poems that we wish we had written and take us somewhere we didn’t even know we wanted to go.

Linebreak is updated each Tuesday and features a single poem for the entire week. Published poems are archived indefinitely.

Submissions

Linebreak accepts only original, previously unpublished poetry. Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but please inform us if a poem is accepted elsewhere for publication.

Send only your best 3-5 poems in the body of the email to submissions@linebreak.org. Include a bio. Put your name and “submission” in the subject line. Submissions with attachments will be deleted unread. We’ll do our best to get back to you ASAP, but we average a turnaround of one month.

As our name would suggest, prose poems are a hard sell with our editors. They are, however, considered.

Audio

In addition to text, Linebreak publishes audio recordings of all poems. Each poet’s work is read and recorded by another working poet selected by the editors. To that end, we’re always seeking volunteer readers.

If you’re a published poet who is willing and able to create a digital recording, email us at submissions@linebreak.org with a brief list of your publications. Put the word “reader” in the subject line, and we’ll get back to you with more information.

Visitors may listen to recordings using the site’s built-in Flash player, or subscribe to a podcast feed of all recordings. The podcast is also available through iTunes.

Staff

Linebreak is edited by Ash Bowen, Johnathon Williams, and Ashley McHugh. Email questions or concerns to editors@linebreak.org.

Technical

The site was designed and coded by Johnathon Williams. It’s best viewed in a modern, standards-compliant browser such as Firefox, Opera, or Safari, but Internet Explorer 7 will do in a pinch. If you’re using Internet Explorer 6, you’re missing out on half the fun.
